Founded by Doug and Carol Nelson in 1980, New Spaces is a leading full-service design/build firm serving the metro area. Today, the family tradition continues with the second-generation – President Shawn Nelson. Shawn has served the Twin Cities remodeling and building industry spanning over two decades, as the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) President in 2014, and as a Life Director for The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Shawn currently serves as a city council member for the City of Bloomington and as a board member for the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 2006, New Spaces received the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award and has continued to be honored with industry recognition for design and remodeling projects.
