Burnsville City Government

In Burnsville, residents elect a mayor and four City Council Members – all at-large, and all with equal voting authority. All policy and legislative decisions are the responsibility of the council. The council delegates the administrative duties to a City Manager.

City Administration
The City Manager is appointed by the council and reports to the council. The manager is responsible for effective administration of City business in accordance with council decisions and management of City staff.

Planning Commission
The Burnsville Planning Commission is responsible for researching, reviewing and making recommendations on issues related to land use and development in the City. The Commission meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is an advisory body to the City Council and the Economic Development Authority charged with the responsibility of researching, reviewing, and making recommendations on issues related to economic development. The Commission meets on the second Wednesday every other month at 6:30 p.m.
