Every winter, Burnsville's Heart of the City area shines bright with more than 200,000 mini lights, 230 streetlight snowflakes and a 30-foot-tall tree. This illuminating season always begins with the annual Winter Lighting Ceremony at Nicollet Commons Park. Join the Burnsville Community Foundation with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Mayor Kautz for this seasonal tradition as we turn on the amazing lights in Burnsville's Heart of the City.
Note: you can also watch the winter lighting ceremony online with BCTV or on cable channels 14 and HD 799.
Lights and More
Since 2009, Winter Lighting has used light-emitting diode (LED) lights - resulting in approximately 90% less energy use compared to traditional incandescent lights.
Burnsville Community Foundation
The Winter Lighting Ceremony is sponsored and paid for by the Burnsville Community Foundation through generous donations from area businesses and residents. Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has raised more than $600,000 to make this event a cherished Burnsville tradition.
