DESCRIPTION:HR Roundtable\n\nTopic: Guidance for employers on MN new Wage Theft Law that went in to effect 7/1/19\n\nSpeaker: Dave Skovholt\, MN Dept. of Labor and Industry\n\nFacilitator: Sandra Schlaefer\, ChHC and RHU\n\n\n\nSandra Schlaefer\, in partnership with the Burnsville Chamber is bringing back the HR Roundtable.  This program is designed to provide legislative\, compliance\, education\, trends and insights for our south metro employers.\n\n\n\nDaveSkovholt will discuss the new responsibilities that employers will need to provide to employees when they start work (amendments to Minn. Stat.   181.032).\n\n \n\nThe Minnesota Legislature passed and the governor has signed a new Minnesota Wage Theft Law. The new law amends existing state labor laws and provides for new wage and hour requirements\, protections and sanctions. This guidance highlights provisions of the new law that will require employers to review their current policies and practices and take necessary steps to bring those policies and practices into compliance with the requirements of the new law's provisions.\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Dave Skovholt is the Outreach Coordinator in the Labor Standards Unit of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI).  Dave's outreach is focused on unpaid wage issues.  He travels throughout the state\, meeting with business groups and community organizations.
